If you could change one thing about human nature, what would it be?
Lets say you were given the opportunity to change one aspect about human nature, what would it be and why?

I'll go first. I wish I could change the desire to categorize ourselves into groups based on arbitrary perimeters. The concept of the children's book Star Belly Sneetches by Dr. Seuss is a great example of this. Whatever that star on your belly represents; wealth, religion, race, sexual orientation, etc.,etc., and the constant desire to alienate those who lack the stars.

In the book, the plain belly sneetches eventually figured out a way to get stars, so the star belly sneetches removed their stars, deeming plain belly to be the desired outcome. The moral of the story, is that value constantly changes and is therefore rather arbitrary.

Thats what I would change. If we stopped doing that, I suspect we would have a lot more tolerance for differences.

More altruism, less douchebaggery.

Herd mentality. It is the stupidest and most dangerous thing that appears to be innate.

Aside from the question assuming that there's such a definitive thing as 'human nature' or that we all know what that is Tongue And aside from the unethical nature of forcibly changing the nature of all humanity Big Grin

One thing that I would want to change about human nature nature is: humans having any kind of disease/disorder that they would have always had, such as an inherited genetic disorder, mental disorder, predisposition to developing cancer etc.

All things that we know for a fact can be said to be 'human nature' since they're ingrained irreversibly into an individual's genome from the moment of conception.

Confirmation bias and wishful thinking. Way too many wrong beliefs persist solely because people want to believe them and will look for ways to prove themselves right.

I'd probably stop killing people. Shy

Well, I wouldn't stop me from killing people... I'd stop people in general from killing other people.
