Come to think of it, I could do the dubs of Japanese monster movies into English. I hate to admit, I'd be very good at that. Weeping

It was the only job I ever liked.

There are secular humanist pastors. Consider the Unitarian Universalist church. Seriously.

There are opportunities in hospitals, prisons, and the military.

I love what I do, design and build software and control systems.

Other things I considered on the way were medical doctor, scientific researcher, university professor, astronaut. I would have been happy in any of those, I think.

I'm pretty keen on software design. Getting to know a bit about the software industry has been a lot of fun this past couple of years Smile

RE: If you had a choice...
This thread raises some good questions. In addition to "what would you do instead", maybe the question of "what else would you do" can be asked.

I'd really love to do an acoustic guitar and singing set at local bars and such. Not for the money, because I don't think there is any money in it, but because I think it would be fun and give me a creative outlet. The only reason I don't do it is I can't sing, I don't play guitar, and I'm pretty sure I'm not creative. But, man, I wish I could/did/was.

Another idea I've had, and one that is a little more realistic, is teaching at a community college. I could teach business law, international business (the difference is it's business with an accent!), business strategy, etc. I've had a diverse career, have a lot of experience (some of it relevant to classes I would like to teach), 2 advanced degrees, and am not shy speaking in front of an audience. This is something I really think about doing. I've not done it to date because I just never had time. My current job is just too time consuming. But, with the new one, maybe it won't be. There is no real money in this either, but I think it's something I'd like to do. Hopefully my new job will give me the opportunity to do it. I'll know soon enough and maybe it's something I can try to do next fall.

If I had a dollar for every time I was asked what I want to do when I grow up I'd have maybe $6.

And even today I have no answer. I don't wanna grow up.

Government sponsored psychopath, can't beat that with a stick. Big Grin

Reading this stuff makes me feel old - Sadcryface2 - cause I don't wanna do shit, cause everything involves driving, which I hate, or working alone in a cave, which is boring. Then there's my ridiculous infatuation with Gwyneth, get to thinking about working for something, and the stupid brain goes, my Gwynnies!

Stupid brain. Big Grin
