Psychology tries to arrive on conclusion that is universal.

It proposes that this “fear of the unknown” is present to all human beings, religious and not religious alike, believers or nonbelievers alike.

Human tendency is to name things what we see, what we feel, what we think….to give a name to it, as well as to the unknown.

Once we human were able to put a name or description on it…. we tend to think we were able to conquer that fear of the unknown.

Sure thing, fear of the unknown is present in all humans, but not all humans solve this fear with religious belief in a supernatural being that is superior to nature, creator of nature and can change nature to save the believer if they just pray the right prayer.
Fear of death is the ultimate fear of the unknown and the ultimate driver in religious beliefs.
An atheist should not fear death, as death is just nothingness.
The only group of people with no problems are "dead people".

The old gods are dead, let's invent some new ones before something really bad happens.
