Oh well, you still showed some sanity in finding the article to share. Big Grin

Thanks for sharing some of my favorite background music.

I got to quote to be coherent?!?! That dang Gwynnies! Big Grin

I love that girl. I'm not seeing we have contention here; my contention is that the term "evolution" and its scientific connotations brought about "creationism." But where we are today is at a convergence of history and information.

And when it comes down to which came first, Mind or God; all the evidence points to the former. Wink

That's one of the best tongue-in-cheek posts I've seen in a while. Bravo! Smile

Really? How so?

Without evolutionary theory as a backdrop, at least half of those discoveries would never have been made.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Gotta disagree with you on that.
Before the publication of On the Origin of Species:
Astronomy was progressing nicely with bigger and better telescopes;
Medicine was already on a scientific path thanks to people like Louis Pasteur, and the antibiotic properties of penicillin were discovered by happenstance;
Paleontology was advancing rapidly and already there was talk of "transmutation of species";
In geology, James Hutton was already formed a theory of gradual change that mad the earth much older than 6000 years;
Scientific medicine led to the discovery and subsequent sequencing of DNA

Darwinism did not significantly impact other sciences for many, many years.

After trying to find something to support my statement and coming up empty, I sit here appropriately Chastised.

Had evolutionary theory not been around, DNA sequencing could still have occurred which would have then rapidly led to the theory of evolution.

Are we just talking about the Judeo/Christian/Islam era, or do we go back to humanity never having any sort of evolution toward spiritual belief? So no Sumerian gods, Greek, Norse, Hindu, Chinese, and ad nauseum? Where would we be today with the earth never having been exposed to religion?

This now in the realm of pure speculation. No one knows or can know. To go thousands of years back into history and expect to come up with what would have happened if religion disappeared at a certain time is futile. Human history would be different because there would have been different mindsets. Too many variables makes it nothing but, pure speculation, at best. I am not going there.

When I find myself in times of trouble, Richard Dawkins comes to me, speaking words of reason, now I see, now I see.

That's a good point. However I know some Creationists who think the fossil fuels are there because the flood killed all those pesky dinosaurs. Big Grin
