RE: In God We Trust
It's always amazed, confused and astounded me how important religion seems to be in the USA. Here it is such a non event. If any of our politicians mentioned God in Parliament they would be laughed out of the building. The most ridiculed people in the country are some idiot who calls himself a Bishop of his prosperity church which unburden poor brown people of their money, and the head of the Conservative Christian party who has taken an absolute bollocking lately.

About the only good press religion gets here is when the Anglican Church appointed a new Bishop for the capital. Basically a youngish hippy dude with dreads who pretty much live on a commune in the middle of nowhere with people having emtoional crisis shit going on. No shit. Bishop of the most important Diocese in the country. Only reason it got good press is because he doesn't really seem very religious at all. He even freely admits the Church is fucked and will probably die out in a couple of generations.

Who do you blame the most in the government now? What would you like to change the most?

There is no one person to blame. Really, it's not the government's fault. Once again, it comes down to uninvolved, uneducated, blatantly ignorant society.
Of course, it's not everyone, but it is a majority.

Judging by the choice of words (parliament, bollocking, Anglican), it will be Britain. Being British myself I recognise that religion is on the wane.

When I went undercover once to check out the indoctrination techniques used by churches, I remember one of the first sermons I listened to was about how only 10% of the population are regular church going Christians. I remember thinking at the time, like how 10% of the population are left-handed or gay then ...

I sort of assume that most people I come across in the UK aren't actually religious, and maybe at most fair-weather Christians who only go to church for baptisms, weddings and funerals. I don't make that assumption any more now that I have emigrated to Bavaria.

Also note, the UK also recently gave political asylum to someone because they were an atheist.

RE: In God We Trust
Religious belief is on the decline everywhere in the Western world, and yes, that includes the United States. The problem here is that the religious are so entrenched, that it is going to take a very long time to catch up to Europe. Not only that, the Evangelical group views the rise of atheism and science as something to fight against, and they use the large numbers they have to do so.

New Zealand. We are too lazy to get out of bed early on a Sunday morning. Something like less than 3 percent of the population go to church on a regular basis.

I miss New Zealand. I went there a few years ago as part of a government sponsored student ambassador program. I have to say, place is pretty badass.
When my group first got off the plane it was 100% overcast and the girls were complaining, bus driver was like "Don't like the weather? It's OK, wait about a half hour and it'll change." Laugh out load
Plus your forests are fucking gorgeous. I'd love to move over there.

RE: In God We Trust
I have watched most of this video; not quite finished. I'm finishing as time permits. I'm really angry at all the people who were saying they would kill others if they truly believed it was their god's orders. Who needs morals when you have God to blame for your actions? Angry

I wonder if they would have the same answer if the Abraham story didn't exist. Consider
