RE: Increased earthquake activity, whats going on?
Flip a quarter.

Your possible outcomes are it comes up

A. Heads.
B. Tails.
C. Lands on the edge. Unlikely as that possibility is, it is a possibility.

So - discounting C. as statistically insignificant -- your odds are basically 50/50 of the quarter coming up heads.

But, if you keep flipping it long enough - you'll start to see a pattern of sorts -- that the quarter doesn't come up alternately heads or tails, but in groups of 2, 3, 4 or 5 of either in a row.

And, if you keep flipping it long enough -- it could come up 10, 20 , or ever 300 times heads in a row.

........

Same thing with earthquakes --- some years 10 or 20 in a row come up.

........

It's just averages. There'll be years where there's significantly lower numbers of earthquakes.

And best guess????

The "devout" will claim that "Gawd" is the reason for that, as well..... I'd put the odds of that at slightly less than outcome "C." x .000000000001 .

.......................................

RE: Increased earthquake activity, whats going on?
I live in Oklahoma and we've had a big increase in earthquakes since 2008.
As far as I know it's the result of waste-water disposal related to oil and natural gas wells. Up until 2008, the number of earthquakes here was just a handful, in 2008 there were a dozen, in 2009, 50 earthquakes, then in 2010 over 1,000! It maintains this pace today.

Fortunately these have been under magnitude 5, they feel like a big truck going by in the neighborhood. There's nothing supernatural about it, but it's an annoyance nonetheless. I think we'll eventually ban waste-water disposal and hopefully things will turn back to normal, it may take 20 years though to return to the way it was.

Of course, even though it's a rather mundane explanation, it won't stop apocalyptic-minded Christians from declaring it to be a fulfilled prophecy heralding the end of the world.

Life goes on, the world goes on, we learn from our mistakes and hopefully correct them and Jesus coming back remains only a figment of overactive imaginations.

Using the supernatural to explain events in your life is a failure of the intellect to comprehend the world around you. -The Inquisition

You're dishonest. You're clearly a theist which means you are lying and purposely being dishonest which means you are going against your God's word/teachings which means you are going to hell. Enjoy hell troll.
