BoT- Leela, what is your exercise routine? Getting regular exercise the same time every day will help, as well.

Thanks, I will ask about that benadryl at the pharmacy today after work.

My excersize routine has nothing to do with it. I had the same issue when I had that regular excersize. As I mentioned, it is not just a one time thing or something that only recently occured. It is a side effect of some mental issues. Very strict evening routine helps me to tackle that. So whenever that routine cannot be in place, I have a problem.

So as I start typing this post it is almost midnight.
Usually I would go have a shower now, then go to bed, watch one or two things on YouTube with my hubby, and then pass out.

But not lately.

As long as I get up at 7:30am and get my sleep ritual (see above), I will be able to fall asleep next to my husband.

Before I met him, I had insomnia to a degree that, when I needed to go somewhere in the morning, I had to take sleeping pills to be able to fall asleep at all. Back then, my insomnia was caused by my mental problems so my doctor gave me those. But as I met him, all my symptoms started to die down for the most part.
So I have had this sleep ritual for the past... I would say approaching 7 years now. It works like a charm, I need no meds for sleeping problems anymore.
But I am unable to fall asleep when either the husband or the ritual is missing.
Instead, I will be wide awake. My brain will keep doing it's thing and all I can do is wait until my eyes burn and my body says "fuck you!" and I just go and pass out.

So currently my mr has a job that is irregular so whenever he gets his call to come to work, he will of course agree to go to work. The problem is that it always has him go to bed very early (like 8pm) and get up very early (3am, 4am).
So in those cases, I cannot go to bed with him and just have him and the ritual a bit earlier. It would be 4 hours too early, that just doesn't work.

Well he has been working for a few days again and I am exhausted like every time he works this job. I go to bed at like 2am because my body signals me that pass out time has come. But the second I lay down, I am completely awake and ready for a fucking marathon. I cannot fall asleep for another 30-60 minutes but then have to get up at 7:30am because work. And because I have a very light sleep and wake up from EVERYthing, I wake up at least twice but usually more times every night.
So at this point I am completely exhausted, I need more sleep, but I have no idea how to fall asleep.
I wish I could have those sleeping pills but I would guess they are prescription and I also forgot the name. But they always worked great... They were specifically prescribed to depressed people and did absolute wonders on me. I always slept like a baby... So in absence of those and my ritual, I need help and ideas.

cheers
The exhausted Leela
If you use tapatalk then it should be relatively easy to find IslamicBoard

It is a community of mostly Muslims who will happily conversate with you.

I would suggest a level of humility and respect there though.

Many well informed genuine people there to help you with any questions you might have.

I could probably help some, bit my answers would be based off of the Quran only, and I'm not technically a Muslim though I do consider myself at least trying to be Islamic (submissive to GOD)

Good luck

Peace

Just roll with it brotherman. I found it funny as all fuck. Big Grin

Besides, "conversating" with Muslims about the Quran might actually be a good cure for insomnia.

Melatonin is wonderful. My doctor prescribed me atarax as a sleep aid...made me feel weird.

Melatonin on the other hand is something your body already uses, a lil extra works like a champ.

Get some 3-5mg chewable tablets and take em 30 minutes before bed. A cup of chamomile tea might help too.

I too suffer from some mental issues, namely anxiety, and melatonin has worked wonders for my insomnia.

Best wishes Hug

Well worth the post. I read it and wondered what I had missed.

So, you took a wrong turn and ended up here...it happens.

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

I don't suffer from mental issues or anxiety. I suffer from thinking too much........right before I go to bed. Or sometimes in the middle of the night I wake up and start thinking. Most of the time I'm not thinking about important things or stuff that bothers me, I'm thinking of creative stuff, or just plain stuff.

*now lets see......if I planted the rosemary bush in front of the marijuana bush it won't be see from the street.........I wonder why my one toenail grows faster than the others......I've gotta find some better shoes for my Tango lessons.....let's see....hummm....if I painted the laundry room with the same creamy yellow as the front room I wonder how that'd look...... yes, that might work....wonder what the weather is going to be like tomorrow.....I'm so happy with my new bicycle....I need a basket for it though.......cat, what are you doing?.....get off my pillow you're purring too loud and there's not room for you and my head on the pillow at the same time.......... go away.....go sleep down by my feet......silly cat.....you're so cute though......*

And I go on and on and on. Grrrr. STOP MY BRAIN! PLEASE STOP THINKING!

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
