None of the websites have asked me for my email. Are you talking about the megavideo links? When you click the red play button an advertisment will pop up, but it is irrelevant, just cross it off.

Well I was able to get part of one to play but then it stopped wanting me to sign up again and I couldn't x out of it. I'm sure it would work eventually, but too much of a PITA for me.

Oh I think I know what you mean, megavideo has a time limit. you can watch over an hour of video and then you must wait a while, so it shouldn't have been a problem. did it say anything about a time limit? perhaps you or somebody with your ip has been using megavideo? anyway.. It should work again a bit later.

IDK? It's OK though I get the idea. It's a sad scary truth about the human condition. I would like to think I'm not suceptable, but who knows?

Susceptibility is the human condition, I think. Our brains take shortcuts, our eyes play tricks on us, and our minds are susceptible to outside influence. That's why skeptical thinking is often so difficult for us (humans in general). And that's why evidence-based reasoning so often leads us to conclusions that we never suspected, or go against our pre-conceptions.

The real problem I have are people who know these things, who see examples of trickery, or are given logical reasons for a phenomena or experience, and still manage to say "but I know what I saw / heard / felt, therefore I know it's true."

Our brains deceive us on a regular basis, so we have to fight back. Homer Simpson had it right all these years: "Quiet brain, or I'll stab you with this Q-Tip!" Tongue

Our brains deceive us on a regular basis, so we have to find ways to fight back.

In future, please do not chastise me as if I were a child. I admitted to not watching it. I still think it's smoke and mirrors, we just may not know how it's done.

My reason for being is to serve as a cat cushion. That is good enough for me. Wink

you're still coming to a conclusion without examining things, as I said, Derren specialises in psychology, misdirection and hypnosis, he can easily manipulate a person into doing or thinking certain things.. take this clip from one of his shows for example, he convinces the people who give winnings at dog tracks to give him winnings on a losing dog like 3 times.

RE: Instant Conversions
I watched several of his videos on YouTube last night, and each one had been put up by websites that promise to show how to do this kind of thing. To me, THAT'S the disturbing part. They're trying to use his ability to scam people to make a buck scamming people.

It's the case with everything unfortunately.
At least some sites may be legit skeptic gathering places , but probably in the minority.

Atheism is a religion like OFF is a TV channel !!!
