Interactive Dynamic Video
Interactive Dynamic Video by Abe Davis at MIT is where a video is analyzed for vibration and how that object would move is calculated, allowing someone to virtually interact and move the object within the video. This can be used to allow virtual characters to interact with real world props. Want a real bush to react as a virtual character runs into it? You can. Seriously, watch the video, this is amazing stuff.

I know! Imagine how much easier special effects could be. No more needing virtual environments for virtual characters to interact with.

Nah!

It'll be porn first.

RE: Interactive Dynamic Video
Using traditional cameras and algorithms, IDV looks at the tiny, almost invisible vibrations of an object to create video simulations that users can virtually interact with.

What are some other potential applications of MIT CSAIL's "Interactive Dynamic Video"?
