I have been listening to Seth's podcasts for the last year "religiously" hehe Tongue and I really enjoy the conversations and the topics/guests of the show.

Seth thank you for everything you do for the community!

Welcome to TTA! I've got some friends who are greek orthodox and attended a wedding once. Interesting ceremony.

Priest told you that? I went to a baptist school that professed the same thing...dinosaurs couldn't exist....

It really is to laugh....

But as if to knock me down, reality came around

ahhhh there's nothing interesting about the ceremony really, i have been to many of them, and i still do, out of respect to my friends who get married and i have to attend their special day. There is only two fun parts to the ceremony 1) when the priest says: the woman should be afraid of the man (talk about bigotry huh?) (and immediately the woman stomps her shoe heel on the man's foot Tongue ) and 2) when we finally get the hell out of the church and the firecrackers and partying starts!!!!! Big Grin

RE: Introduce Yourself HERE!
Hi,
My name is Ben. I'm from Buffalo, NY, and I've been listening to the Thinking Atheist podcast for about 9 months, and I really enjoy it. I just signed up on this website. One of my idols is the late, great Carl Sagan, and I'd love to hear Seth do an episode about him![/font]

Hello all!

I'm a Brit living in Germany and wife of the user Elder Cunningham. I'll mainly be hanging around the science section. I'm a computer scientist specialising in Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Life, although I am currently unemployed.

I've been an atheist for a very long time now although I still remember how easy it is to believe in stuff that you've been conditioned to all your life until you make the active step of questioning the assumptions underlying it all.

Steven here. (Nearly) 42 from Tampa. Been listening to TTA for a while. I met Seth not too long back when he was giving talks in conjunction with his book "Deconverted." I guess I've been an atheist around 6 years or so now.

RE: Introduce Yourself HERE!
G'day,

I'm a retired career Aussie soldier who was brought up a Christian in a Protestant denomination but was a sceptic from an early age, and could identify BS from about the age of 5, I would say. Trying to crack the eggshell to escape the clutches of religion took some doing but now I am feeling more free and alive than I ever felt inside a religious family environment. I know I am the family black sheep now but hey ... that's their problem: not mine. Glad to be a member of this forum.

Hi, I'm a fifty year old man from Ireland, the land of saints and scholars.
I've been an atheist since my early teens, helped in part by being educated by the Christian brothers.Smile

RE: Introduce Yourself HERE!
Greetings All,

I've been an atheist since 2000. I was born and raised in Chicago, moved to Killeen, Tx, then Indianapolis and now I'm in Clearwater Fl. I normally hang out at FRDB (formally Internet Infidels) board and I've been a member there since 2002. I'm looking to branch out and meet new people, and kill some boredom in the process. I only discovered The Thinking Atheist show a few months ago and I really enjoy it. See you around!
