Hi Kurt....do we know each other?

You understood it from that sentence only? Are you Miss Marple? Tongue

Plus, I'd rather consider myself a brunette Nancy Drew with a bad attitude.

Okay, maybe that makes me Harriet the Spy or something.

Ah I didn't know that series, is it worth checking out?

Harriet the Spy is one novel, and written for kids, bit I enjoyed it as a child. She isn't a detective - just a nosy burgeoning writer.

Ah, I said series because on Wikipedia it says "Nancy Drew is a fictional character in a mystery fiction series..." Tongue

RE: Introduce Yourself HERE!
Oh! My mistake, haha. Nancy Drew is enjoyable if you're below the age of 12, I think, but going back to it recently I realized it loses a lot in adult translation. They're not very well written and she borders on Mary Sue. Think like a poorly written James Bond with no explosions: she is beautiful and everyone wants her and she just so happens to be good at nearly everything. But for a young girl, she made a good role model in her own way - she wasn't afraid to go off on her own to solve a mystery, frequently saved her boyfriend instead of the other way around, had a lot of sass and style, and some of the things she was good at - some sports or activities - were things that I was told as a girl even in the 90's were “boy” things.

I wouldn't recommend an adult read them unless doing so out loud with a young girl (or boy). There are far better mystery series with female protagonists to take up your time.

Ah ok thanks for the review. Big Grin I like crime fiction so, I got interested but if you say it's "childish" and not very entertaining for an adult, I won't consider it. I still have a lot of Christie stuff to read anyways. Tongue

Introduce Yourself HERE!
Welcome, Kurt. You're not the only one on NC! And to my fellow ex-Catholics, we do require peanut butter on Communion wafers.
