Investing under Trump
Seems to be an iffy thing.

He makes some stupid remark about Boeing (instead of just making a different deal) and the stock falls.

How am I supposed to know who he will target next?

I am retired, and I need my retirement fund to live. I did like republicans want you to do - saved for my own retirement.

Now this one guy who can't keep his mouth shut threatens to ruin it.

Grrrrrrr Dodgy

Watch what his kids do. I'm thinking the smart money might be on renewable energies. What Ivanka wants Ivanka gets and Ivanka wants to hug trees in clean air while being washed in clean water. .... by naked hippies.

I'm just glad I still have a fair amount just in cash, until the market settles out. I'm in it for the long haul, but short term I'll settle for less potential profit, given the volatility. Maybe I should buy a couple more houses and rent them out, so my that my spawn will have more money when I die. Dodgy Of course, cornering the market on those little Monopoly houses may prove problematic. Laugh out load

Sooner or later he will realise the impact his tweets have on the markets.

Then he'll use that for personal gain (nothing in his history or character indicates that he'll use it for the benefit of society).

This will create a new normal and people will get wise to it ... gaming the system.

It will be a game of blunder, bluff, double bluff, triple bluff [... n-bluff] for four years.

History will call it Twat-Tweet-Economics.

The best part of the whole fubar situation is that instead of considering what might be best for the greater good, now I consider "Fuck you all. How can Girly make this work for me?"

I agree, Ivanka is his little goddess, every narcissist needs one and usually it's the daughter, and she will get some toys. However, he consistently picks people who have zero concern for the environment.

You just cannot predict him. Partially because deception and surprise is part of his game. Partially because he can be manipulated by those who understand his condition, and I bet you what that most of the politicians are aware of it, internationally.

RE: Investing under Trump
How have markets performed under different presidents since 1900? Some better than others but the long-term trend has always been up.

Interactive graph:

The market has done better with Democrats at the helm, this might surprise some.

Here is an interesting read on how markets react to world events. Even though it isn’t a perfect analogy to the Trump presidency it still gives you a fair idea how markets react and act when events unfold.

http://etfdb.com/commodity-etfs/how-mark...ldStandard

The Bottom Line

"When it comes to digesting “bad news,” investors tend to exaggerate their negative reaction. What this means is that a worrisome development, such as a natural disaster, is likely to inspire an immediate bearish reaction that often leads to a negative performance that day. However, as the cases above demonstrate, negative overreactions are generally followed by a resumption of the trend that persisted prior to the “bad news.” In other words, worrisome events can rattle investors’ confidence in the short-term, but it’s important to analyze their significance before assuming the impact will have a long-lasting effect.”

RE: Investing under Trump
Economy 101:

The other thing that Trumpistas and Republicans want to do is shrink the government, the thing is that the biggest line item expenditures the US has are entitlements (I know, dirty word) for retirees. You can pretty much cut everything else completely out and still have a massive financial burden.

The CBO (Congressional Budget Office) just released a 300 page tome on what-ifs ( Republican Wet-Dream list) and found that Trump’s numbers simply don’t add up. You can’t cut enough government programs AND taxes and make the books balance.

Opinion: The Congressional Budget Office just destroyed Trump’s budget promises
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-con...2016-12-09

"The latest CBO publication, Options for Reducing the Deficit 2017 to 2026, is a mammoth tome of more than 300 pages. On the surface it’s basically budget porn for conservatives. Herein lies every possible fantasy for gutting the federal budget.

Slash the number of federal employees and gut their pensions? The CBO’s looked at it. End all subsidized loans for those fancy-pants elitist college students? Stop subsidizing Amtrak? Scrap NASA’s human space-exploration program? Finish off Head Start? Cutting all highway funding that isn’t paid for by highway tolls?”

"The whole Trumpian budget plan is a lie. It panders to ignorance. So many people still think the bulk of the federal budget is spent on “lazy federal bureaucrats” and iPhones and other freebies for “welfare queens” (ahem) and “illegals.” If we could cut taxes and balance the budget by cutting out waste, we’d all support it.

The reality? The biggest chunk of the budget, by far, goes to Americans who are over 65 years old.”

A pie chart looking at where the US spends it’s tax revenues shows

and of the non-entitlement spending, that is the discretionary spending, more than half goes to the military.

[Image: discretionary_spending_pie,_2015_enacted.png]

In other words, unless you are prepared to see your social security and Medicare cut all you are doing is mental-masturbation when you dream of a smaller government. Drinking Beverage
