Is Deism and Atheism the only rational idea?
You know, if we figure out how the universe came into being, all major religions will fall due to them saying their God created the universe.

So, the idea now is that the EXISTENCE of the universe, multiverse, string theory, and EVERYTHING that can exist, exists because we either have some weird theory of it being eternal, or some God of no religion.

What do you guys think?

I think that you actually meant to ask "Are deism and atheism the only rational ideas?" Angel

You are correct. My bad! I usually am strict with grammar and spelling!

RE: Is Deism and Atheism the only rational idea?
I think we observe reality in a limited sense and strive to expand those limits.

I also think we strive to understand the things we observe.

If there are questions that we can't answer due to the limitations of our observation, then we say that we don't know the answer.

Deism isn't rational. I don't think anyone can justify that belief.

Insanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

Why is deism rational? It still makes unfounded assumptions. Sure, it doesn't have all the dogma attached to it, but it's still a big ball of god-of-the-gaps.

I would say Deism is "if there is a God, its the neutral non intervening God at best"

Not sure that's accurate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deism

Deism (Listeni/ˈdiː.ɪzəm/[1][2] or /ˈdeɪ.ɪzəm/) is the belief that reason and observation of the natural world are sufficient to determine the existence of a Creator, accompanied with the rejection of revelation and authority as a source of religious knowledge.

Would I not be correct?

"...among intellectuals raised as Christians who believed in one god, but found fault with organized religion and did not believe in supernatural events such as miracles, the inerrancy of scriptures, or the Trinity."

I vote atheism and/or agnostic deism FTW

Swing with me a while, we can listen to the birds call, we can keep each other warm.
Swing with me forever, we can count up every flower, we can weather every storm.
