Agnostic deism and atheism would make sense actually

Even when I called myself a deist, I felt atheists were more rational.

“You see… sometimes life gives you lemons. And when that happens… you need to find some spell that makes lemons explode, because lemons are terrible. I only ate them once and I can say with certainty they are the worst fruit. If life gave me lemons, I would view it as nothing short of a declaration of war."

It's still an unfounded belief in a deity. No, it's not rational.

A Deist position is not;
"well we don't know the cause of that, so a god may be responsible".
It really is;
"lets cram our theistic interpretation of a god into these gaps not filled by science yet".

I pretend to be a deist just to fuck with the heads of theists, and i don't think arguing a theist to atheist is achievable, just get them to a deist position and if they are rational they will de-convert themselves.

If you were indoctrinated at a young age, then the "deist" position could be considered acceptable, but never, never ever rational.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

It's still an unfounded belief in a deity. No, it's not rational.

But at least it acknowledges the irrational belief, instead of shifting the irrational belief to a truth claim.

If you are deist, then you believe in a non-personal god. If your statement is "if there is a God, its the neutral non intervening God at best", you're likely an agnostic atheist who doesn't sound too sold on the idea of a god and thinks that the idea of a personal god is silly.

Edit:
It looks like this was already covered on the second page... that I didn't read.

RE: Is Deism and Atheism the only rational idea?
While I wouldn't say that deism is exactly a rational position, it is generally a position taken by people who are trying to be rational in their beliefs.

I'll give it credit where credit is due. Unlike the personal intervening gods of the Abrahamic religions as well as some others, the typical deistic conception of a god is at least compatible with observable reality (albeit elusive and unsubstantiated).

Deism is unnecessary.

So why add such an idea?
