Is Steve Martin a sexist
Quote:"When I was a young man, Carrie Fisher was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She turned out to be witty and bright as well," Martin, 71, wrote in the deleted tweet.

I don't see it but maybe you do. Thoughts?

I think his comment was made in a way filled with admiration for her.

What happened is indicative of how we have become a people looking for offense in everything.

I feel bad for him.

So he thought she was gorgeous, ok that's very nice, he came to realize after getting to know her she was witty and bright...umm ok that's very nice of him still, she was like a great gorgeous lady, what is so wrong with that? Also he was totally right, she was all those things.

RE: Is Steve Martin a sexist
I wonder if he had simply written "she was beautiful, witty, and bright" if it would have gotten the same reaction. I doubt it would have and yet would have said the same thing. People can be stupid.

I am not accountable to any God. I am accountable to myself - and not because I think I am God as some theists would try to assert - but because, no matter what actions I take, thoughts I think, or words I utter, I have to be able to live with myself.

I don't think it's a sexist comment and don't have a problem with the way Martin worded it.

This is an example of what people are talking about when they say that the US with its culture of outrage has become too politically correct.
