Is horse any good?
I know the USDA approved it a couple of years ago, but I haven't gotten around to trying it.

Has anyone had it?

I thought horse was a street name for heroin.

I didn't think it was ever "illegal" and perhaps it was based on regions.

I know I've heard stories from dvd commentaries of in the 90s or early 2000s California had restaurants that were serving Raw Horse and that eventually got cracked down on and forbidden. I didn't think Horse in general was ever prevented though.

Maybe this is related to just your region down in the Bayou

Yes, donkey too.

Little more gamey than beef, but very tough. Excellent in stews. Not a fatty meat either.

I have and Moms description is spot on.

I did have venison before, that was something I never thought I'd try.
But horse? No just no, that is just beyond me. Maybe if I was starving and all we had was horse.

I've had Kangaroo and Bear jerky once before... the Bear jerky tasted like a bear, not recommended. Kangaroo was good though

If it's meat, I've probably eaten it. My wife and I usually have a horse filet whenever we are in Europe or Africa and it is quite good. [I am also a horseman but I do not eat my own horses. Smile ] I had venison for lunch today.
