It reads like a great fictional story with god included.

Actually, not really a great fiction: it reads more like a prolonged episode of reduction of congnitive dissonance by some marginalised nutbar.

I wouldn't say "great", the stories repeat themselves, the characters are shallow, and the moral lessons are appalling. I'm just re-reading it and am beginning to think that the reason it is so popular is that it appeals to people's baser nature. Somebody annoys you? Smite him. Don't like your neighbors? Wipe them out.

If you read the bible without prior knowledge that it's supposed to represent real events you'd end up thinking it is a pretty decent mythology book (Still not better than Harry Potter!)

Most times it's the villain that makes stories interesting. The same goes for the Bible. God makes it intresting..
What might be more intresting is that particular villain is never defeated. It seems that the Bible might have a fascinating overall theme. Absolute power corrupts and evil usually prevails. There's truth in the Bible after all.

I've noticed that it most Is about how people saw life and earth and heavens when it was wrote. The way life was perceived is how thr bible seems to be written.
