Better read the book again. Earth is the computer Deep Thought designed to answer the question it couldn't. Earth will be destroyed before the program completes.

As for philosophy, it will never die because humans love to philosophize. As long as people gather around a table with a pitcher of beer there will be philosophy.

It's obvious I've read it many more times than you.

Deep thought was asked the "ultimate question" - it took 7 1/2 million years to come up with the answer "42" -- and THEN he built designed the computer that could give you the question - Earth -- and it was the mice who commisioned it.

And it DID finish --after a fashion--- Ford and Arthur did it on prehistoric earth - by pulling scrabble tiles out of a bag fashioned out of Ford's towel...... It just wasn't exactly the right question.

I'm a double atheist. I don't believe in your god or your politician.
