RE: Is there "atheist" music?
They're not exactly "atheist bands"; they have specific songs that speak against religion/a religious mindset, but they're not devoted to Atheism the way that most Christian bands/groups are. But even so, these are excellent songs to listen to when you're feeling a bit anti-theist Wink

Or, if you're feeling a little heavier than the last one...

Creation Science 101:

E 2 = (mc 2)2 + (pc )2
614C → 714N + e + ̅νe
2 K(s) + 2 H2O(l) → 2 KOH(aq) + H2 (g) + 196 kJ/mol
It works, bitches.

I love this song, especially because it features Hitchens at the end:

And from the same band:

Even though System of a Down sometimes speaks of jesus, they reject the idea of a god, they believe that nature supplies us all and that we are all connected. I enjoy their music because it is deeper than just singing, it's poetry. Thanks.

RE: Is there "atheist" music?
Not exactly atheist music, but this should be an atheist theme song. xD

Quote:I like the sound of the broken pieces
I like the lights that assign where she sits

We got machines but the kids got Jesus
Ought to move like we’re off the name list
God can’t hear you, they will fight you
Watch them build a friend just like you

Morning Sickness, XYZ
Teenage Girls with, ESP (2x)

Gimme the sound, to see
Another world outside that’s full of
All the broken things that I made

Just give me a life, to plea
Another world outside that’s full of
All the awful things that I made

We like to dance but the dead go faster
Turn up the slam and a barcode blaster
We want the cash or the drugs you’re after
Rise up control for the mixtape master

Self-correction, Mass dissection
Xbox brats on in detention
Morning sickness, XYZ
Boys with bombs in NMA

Compliancy, Special Castings

Photographs that I’m erasing

Phono slots with picture screens

Girls with guns on LSD
Self-infraction, mass destruction
Programmed for the final function

Lab Rat King, Rescue team

Save me from the anarchy

Gimme the sound, to see
Another world outside that’s full of
All the broken things that I made

Just give me a life, to plea
Another world outside that’s full of
All the awful things that I made

‘Cause we are the last disease
Another broken life that’s full of
All the awful things that I made

And we got the eyes to see
Another broken life that’s full of
All the awful things that are made

Mwhahahahahaa!

Crucifucks are Anarchist to the core (atheist, anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist)

Can someone please explain to me how you can be an Anarchist and Anti-Capitalist at the same time? This makes no sense to me. Start a new thread if you want, otherwise this will get derailed rather quickly.

RE: Is there "atheist" music?
There's a lot of black metal out there which is anti-theist (not talking about idiotic theistic satanist bands, which are a minority). I've run a mostly black- and death metal fanzine since the mid-1990s. Atheism is a frequent topic of discussion when I interview bands, and anti-theist topics such as why religions are harmful and a lot of disgust with people who are just really, really sick of religion. In most BM, so-called satanic stuff is merely a way of mocking religion (usually Christianity) and upsetting religious people, and giving people disgusted with religion an outlet for their feelings.

I'm sure I've heard of other atheist music, and certainly there are a lot of atheist artists/bands, but I think anti-theism is more prevalent because music is generally emotional and being against religion involves stronger feelings than simply not believing in any gods.
