Video Isaac Air Freight
Did anyone else who grew up in the 70s and 80s as a Christian ever remember listening to the Christian comedy skit recordings of Isaac Air Freight? I was trying to remember the name of this group for a while, and found it on YouTube. I just remember one of their sketches called the Religion Store where it is basically the devil making up religions to sell to people to confuse them. I had remembered that they take a swipe a Unitarians. Later in life when my aunt and uncle became Unitarians, that got me to think a little more about it.

The funny thing is that the sketch talks about how all the other religions are made up to confuse people, but I guess they didn't think that kids would figure out that Christianity is made up too. Smile

Many theists seem to be largely blind to irony, sarcasm, and parody. It is what makes identifying a Poe so difficult.

Atheism: it's not just for communists any more!

I think Hitchens said it quite pointedly.
"The struggle for a free intelligence has always been a struggle between the ironic and the literal mind."

"The literal mind can never understand the ironic mind."

"Our weapons are the ironic mind against the literal: the open mind against the credulous; the courageous pursuit of truth against the fearful and abject forces who would set limits to investigation (and who stupidly claim that we already have all the truth we need). Perhaps above all, we affirm life over the cults of death and human sacrifice and are afraid, not of inevitable death, but rather of a human life that is cramped and distorted by the pathetic need to offer mindless adulation, or the dismal belief that the laws of nature respond to wailings and incantations."

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.
