"It's just how I was raised."
"It's just how I was raised." Since moving to Tennessee this an excuse I've heard over and over again for Christian bigotry. They seem to think this excuses and explains everything, and I don't get it.

It's a masked way of saying "I don't have another option". It's false of course, people can change their values and how the think or act, with some limitations of course, some things are fixed for life. But in most cases this is just an excuse, to divert responsibility from something they know is wrong but want to keep doing.

That has to be the lamest excuse for behavior. I don't even know what to say. To think that people would just excuse their behavior as if their parents and community are some ultimate authority over their lives...

Obviously they are correct. It was how they were raised. And they never grew out of it.
