Nope. How about the physicians who stood by, refusing to break the law? If the law gives him that choice... that's how it is. The target of your ire should be the fucking stupid law. And then the fucking stupid person. But the fucking stupid person is not a fucking stupid murderer even if he done it. He's just a prick.
Sure. Surgeons should have the power to "do surgery now, get court order later" in urgent cases like this.
But in this situation he had the power to save her but chose not to.
The surgeons could have gone to jail for breaking that law and how many more people could die for lack of staff?

This is defiantly the ugly side of religion. When people let their loved ones die because of religious doctrine and then are just "a prick" to outsiders, or "normal" to fellow church members.
"No let her die, my 'forgiving merciful god' will not be 'forgiving' if I decide she should live'."

AFAIK in Britain, the doc could have been charged with assault if she'd given the transfusion without consent.

It's not fair to say "you've got a legal choice but if you choose the one which we find morally repugnant then we'll do you for murder." It's the *law* which is wrong. Not the individual guy who has to make the choice.

I would say that this is natural selection at work. The idiots die off, however their stupidity saves them. They don't believe in birth control, so they just keep pumping them out. If you have 20 kids, what does it even matter if a few die due to your religious beliefs?

RE: Jehovah Witless
If the child dies as a result of not receiving that treatment, they are absolutely convinced that their obedience to their god in refusing the treatment will mean they're blessed in the end. They think the child will get a resurrection after Armageddon, as well as themselves. So, to them, you can't convince them they're doing something heinous. They are completely and totally brainwashed into believing this is the ONLY way to gain their god's approval and have a place in Paradise, even though it means their child or loved one suffers death as a result of the refusal of medical treatment.

To be fair, Jehovah's Witnesses do not condemn the use of birth control methods like condoms, pills, etc. They are against abortion at any level, however.
