Quote:We have to read the book--including the New Testament--as [Jesus] did

Neat trick.

Quote:[Jesus'] attitude to the “other” was as incomprehensible as if he’d blurted “ E=mc2 is the equation of mass–energy equivalence.”

Yeah, but if the early manuscripts HAD recorded something like that there would be some actual evidence. It'd be a lot more convincing than just telling people not to wash their hands....

And somebody needs to point out to this writer hat Pope Francis isn't actually being more inclusive. His statements are worded to make them sound that way but underneath the flowery language nothing has changed.

Dude's a Christian atheist. Knew I couldn't be the only one.

He sure likes to use provocative titles though.

Ryan Bell reviewed that book; didn't seem to think too much of Schaeffer calling himself an atheist

That was an interesting review. Thanks! Thumbsup

Think I only got one comment.

"You simply cannot be an atheist and believe in God, at least not while holding even the most tenuous grasp on the English language. Even accounting for the malleability of language, the word atheist clearly means some form of not believing in God." - Ryan Bell

Well no duh. To believe in God necessarily requires redefining it as something, well, believable. I got no issue with that.
