Jesus as a Humanist
Hey folks!

Listen to this short podcast and tell me what you think!
http://philosophybites.com/2009/12/don-c...opher.html

Gist: Jesus was a philosopher and thinker. All metaphysical stories about him were attributed to him long after his death but how he is supposed to be understood is through his saying and teachings; a kind of uber-generosity. The Anglican (priest?) says Jesus was the first humanist because he preached that morality came through us and not from divine command &c. Also this puts Don Cupitt in a Christian Atheist category. Who would-a-thunk it?

In science, "fact" can only mean "confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent." I suppose that apples might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal time in physics classrooms.
