Jesus is a thief

My friend's ex, whom I've never met, is a decent guy and very religious. I started following his blog, but out of respect for my friend, so far I've only made general comments, despite the times I've wanted to just tell him my true opinion. I don't think he's made the connection that we have a mutual friend. I like the guy--we even have a few similarities & he reminds me of me when I was a Christoid. He follows my blog so must know I'm atheist.

A few days ago he wrote a heartwrenching post about some difficulties his family is having. There's no option to message someone privately on the blog, so I found his FB account & messaged him there (for the first time ever)--this means he can now see we have a mutual friend. In the message I told him he & his family are in my thoughts, and I asked if he might be willing to elaborate on a certain portion of the story he told on the blog. When I didn't hear back from him at first, I figured he was just checking with our friend to ask about me....but it's been over 36 hours...

Then I saw his new blog in which he says, "How can I ask someone who doesn't know Him to pray for me? What kind of power could they possibly tap into?" His lack of response to me might be unrelated to this blog excerpt, but I thought how very sad if they're related....

Ya' see, the reason I asked him to elaborate on part of his story is so that I can better understand the situation because I wanted to offer help. Real, tangible help. But Jesus is stealing his help. Incredibly sad, in my opinion. (Edit now that I'm at a real computer ---->) Aside from the offensive implication that nonbelievers have nothing to offer unless they talk to the air, I get the impression that he fears being in more contact with me because I'll somehow damage his 'faith.'
