I kept waiting for their laser beams. But nooooo laser beams. Sad

(Technically, that's an image of Voth antiproton beams, which somehow fire successfully inside atmosphere on Star Trek Online. I prefer to suspend disbelief because laser dinosaurs still = awesome!)

Not to mention the Velociraptors (which thankfully did get some feathers by the 3rd sequel) get even nastier:

But the movie calls them velociraptors. That error is on their heads.

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.

This movie has a lot of errors, but some of them can' t really be pinned on them.

Utahraptors were not aggressive. Again though, it makes a lot more sense in the book anyway. Yes Crichton deliberately chose to name them Velociraptors because he felt it was a more intimidating name, but we also know that what the scientists created were NOT 65-million year old dinosaurs, but rather imperfect mutant creatures with their own characteristics.

Seriously though, I imagine Crichton rolled over in his grave the day Jurassic World was released. I still do not understand why they didn't make use of all the great unused material that's found in the books?

Honestly, the book has a crapload of exposition. Not the bad kind, but stuff that doesn't carry over well to the screen. Secondly, if the movies was going to be just like the book, it would have been R-rated. Getting eaten alive, guts ripped out (while alive), spine ripped out, raptors getting blown to tomato sauce; it's a wonder the movie managed to keep it down.

And Jurassic World was a generic Godzilla movie without Godzilla. Thank Jebus that Chris Pratt was there to be awesome.
