Just would like some ideas.
I know that you all are probably tired of hearing about my boyfriend and most likely thinking "my god, this isn't a blog."
I understand and I'm sorry if I bother you with it, but honestly, I'm a teenager and that's what some of us do. Anyways. Whenever me and my boyfriend hang out, it seems as if we always do the same things: -cuddle and watch movies (aka I sleep) -go longboarding -go and get frozen yogurt -or go ice skating So I was wondering.. Since most of the people on this site are older than I am, why not ask you guys/girls for advice? I was wondering if any of you could give us some cute things to do, sometime. Any cute date ideas. Any things that we could just do together, that would be fun. Any ideas at all? Let me know, ok? "You don't disappoint me.... I think your much braver than you may believe." bemore |

RE: Just would like some ideas.
It depends on your individual interests. For example, I once dated a spooky little gal who was into horror and slasher flicks. I too have a taste for the macabre parts of life, so we would sit around watching horror movies together (I'm not really into horror films, but it was fun to watch her get all excited about them). Then every Halloween, we'd go around town visiting all the haunted houses and spookshow events they had set up. And almost every night (particularly in the dead of Autumn) we would take long walks through the woods and look at the Moon shining through the leafless trees. Sometimes we sneaked into cemetaries after dark and strolled around looking at the headstones. (Then we'd lay down on top of a grave and....well.....don't ask.
)After her, I dated another woman who was the complete opposite. She liked chick-flicks and shopping for clothes and romantic dinners. So I was always organizing a movie date-night at the theater, or getting us a day off to visit the zoo. She worked with special ed. kids and loved the job, so she and I would sit at the kitchen table all evening and make crafts for her classroom. Other nights, we would just jump in the car and see what there was to do in the world. This was usually followed by eating burgers in a booth in the corner of a diner or bar, then leaving our car parked somewhere while we walked around town. We took trips to various national parks and tourist attractions on occasion as well. We went hiking one Winter afternoon and nearly lost our damn fingers. lol The thing about doing things together is not feeling like you have to do something together. When you're with the right person, shitty burgers with shitty fries and shitty beer in a shitty corner of a shitty bar can be the most romantic date imaginable. It was random; you laughed and giggled the whole time; and you did it with the person you love. There was no big, planned event with candles and a glass of champagne on ice and a limo and a theater reserved for just the two of you. Hell, my ex and I went to see "Megamind" on Thanksgiving night just on a whim and made out in the front row in front of all the kids for an hour. lol, And it was fun as hell, because we were together. That's all that mattered. Boredom doesn't necessarily reflect on the state of your relationship; sometimes it simply reflects on the state of your environment. Through profound pain comes profound knowledge. Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto! Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor! |

Just wondering: why does it have to be cute?
What are your interests? What are his interests? For instance; painting class, sculpting class, horseback riding, dinner by moonlight, walk in the park, there are so many things but it really depends what your interests are. Do you happen to have local sports? Is he into baseball or wrestling? Maybe find local events going on around that. Another tip: most guys aren't into to 'cute' things. They usually do it just for us. But if you want grow your relationship try some 'uncute' things every now and then.

RE: Just would like some ideas.
Find a recipe for a meal that neither of you has ever tried before and cook it together.
Get out a [paper] map of the town/city where you live and circle a neighbourhood to explore. On foot, with maybe a camera, notebook and a backpack of sandwiches. Build a snow-fort. Put together a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle. A 3-D one would be cool. (cheap at thrift store) Volunteer at the food bank or animal shelter. Create interesting hairstyles and stage makeup on each other. Take turns reading aloud from each of your favourite childhood books. Write a song. Learn a new skill, like rug-hooking or marquetry that neither of you has tried before. Invent a new board game or a secret code. The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. - WB Yeats - The Second Coming |

RE: Just would like some ideas.
I haven't dated in a long, long time and I admit to having no idea what to do if I had to plan a date with someone... next week.
And I'm soon turning 30. |

Cute? Ladies... Over to you.

Join an Internet forum together and have domestics here.
Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk. |

RE: Just would like some ideas.
It really depends who both of you are...
I used to like crossword & word games with my ex-girlfriend. Also paddling (canoeing), running, movies, cuddles, going for walks at the botanic gardens - thanks all you crazy botany types, you created a good place for kissing... we never felt the need to keep each other entertained - she had her stuff she liked to do and I had mine, just sometimes we'd get together for stuff we both enjoyed... |

(And I hear you about botanical gardens.) Also, like others have pointed out, it's not so much about what you're doing, as it is about the person you're doing it with. Hey, with the right person you sometimes don't even need to talk, it's enough just being together. You can always try new sports, if you're into it (you mentioned longboarding and skating). Hiking and horseback riding trips are great, but maybe won't work in your case (I'm guessing you can't be away from home for too long). Sorry, not really helpful, but I don't exactly get "cute" and everyone is different, so... |
