RE: Keeping my fingers crossed
Yeah, I work ten hour days through the week (not counting lunch hour) and half a day every other Saturday. The wife works full time and with two kids it's damn near impossible to find time to do anything else.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

No worries, you can substitute birds or flour...

Leviticus
5-7 And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the LORD; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering
5-11 But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put [any] frankincense thereon: for it [is] a sin offering.

No.
Just, no.

This is Real Estate ... the fuckers want blood. Shy

If you really want this house, grease the sellers. No law against sincerely putting the money where the mouth is. It's often called a "good faith" deposit.

Of course, if the deposit is placed and the house goes to a higher bid ... well uh, oops ... such is risk. Unless you can get with the actual seller and deal personally... which is pretty much what I did.

Here, if your offer is accepted you put down earnest money which is 1% of the asking price. If the sale doesn't go through you get the money back.

The realtor is using - first house, young couple, getting married...yada, yada, yada.

Alex found a quarter in the driveway and left it on the kitchen counter...told the realtor to let the seller know that...that's he's honest. Tongue

Trust me -- it could be worse...

My SO has been trying to sell her house in town for two years....

2 car attached garage, new furnace and central air big double lot with healthy trees and room for another house....

Been asking mid 60's -- and no bites......

It's a good thing my place is paid for.....

Houses here are selling in a matter of days...like under a week. It's crazy! With demand so high, prices are high too.

There isn't even anything selling for 60K here. Double that will get you a house, but one you would have to put another 30K into to make it livable.

Yea, it's all about location and the local economy. Where I am, the economy is depressed so, house prices are low. BUT the economy is depressed so, nobody's wanting to buy anything, let alone a house.

The shit's weird here: a buddy of mine has had his house on the market for 2 & a half years or more, while a guy I work with sold his place on less than 24 hours! The one that isn't selling is a dream: newer home, double car garage, 3 bed/3 baths, pergola over the patio, beautiful inground pool... updated kitchen, completely turnkey. The 24 hour turnover: 20s/30s bungalow, modest size, detached single garage, 3 bed/1 bath, smallish kitchen... nice fenced yard but no possibility of pool (buried lines).

You need 4x that here to get a fixer upper. That and $50K in renovations later you'll have a house.

Yeah -- it's pretty sad around here...... Housing market is still in the tank - and expected to stay that way for a while.........

The house is in good shape - ready for occupancy....... Just no buyers....

RE: Keeping my fingers crossed
So far we know there has been another offer on the house...son is willing to offer more if it comes to that.

The realtor did tell the seller that Alex found money and left it for her...haha! She didn't mention it was a quarter.

Fingers still crossed...
