Free was an adjective, not a verb. Using it as a verb, I free time for whatever is important to me. I do not serve a purpose; the purpose serves me.

I have an eclectic taste in music. But when I am dancing like a lunatic around my house, it's to some kind of dance music. Right now, it's Bruno Mars.
