Duh. That's not really a secret or something even the least bit surprising.

For a lot of the host cities it's all about losing money. Someone may be making some money but a whole lot of people aren't.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Yeah, some say Atalanta was far more harmed from the efforts of the olympics and that goes for other cities.

I remember a few years back Chicago was in the bidding for one year and so many opposed it because it was clearly a terrible concept. They had so many plans of just infrastructure they would just be building for temporary use then tearing back down.

Of course the Olympic Village where people stay would of been turned into just more projects like set up areas too which is far from functional. I guess it would of at least been used in Chicago, I've read stories of guys across the globe at some like in Russia where the winter olympics were in Sochi, the row of buildings athletes stated at are largely empty now. It's not like the public really benefits unless you have a already well set up area for the events to take place.

An angel with detached wings following the sun as it sets. I guess with the wings having fallen off you'd expect it to fall into the Pacific. Somebody actually got paid money to come up with something that bad.

Los Angeles. City of angels.

The graphic seems to cleverly combine that with the Olympic flame. Consider

Good point.

Yeah, I understood why an angel for Los Angeles but they didn't combine it with the Olympic flame, they combined it with a setting sun. To me that signifies an ending or a death and is hardly the right motif for the Olympic games. They also emphasized the theme 'follow the sun' which just compounds the failure.

Hotels can make a lot. But in general it's not the economic boom one would think.

But it does cost a lot of money to put on...they also put a lot of effort and money into the bidding process which my comment was more about.

I think Utah had issues too when they hosted. People complained they were bored and felt fleeced by the locals. They also were practically giving tickets away, when many events couldn't sell out so the place would appear full.

Me too. It's obviously an angel, but it looks more like a cartoon fairy.
Not that I dislike it. In fact, I kinda do.

So many cats, so few good recipes.
