RE: What's for Dinner? (or supper, or lupper, or the last meal of the day)

A slow cooker is proof you don't actually have to know how to cook in order to prepare delicious meals. Big Grin

That and my halogen grill/oven get a lot of use! Oh, and the pressure cooker.

BTW: a favourite snack/starter of mine is dates (de-stoned and sometimes stuffed with slivers of garlic or chilli) wrapped in thin bacon and grilled till crisp.

These, I think, have an Italian name - anyone know it?

Damn, I am almost Drooling and it's too late at night to do much about it!

Tomorrow is precious, don't ruin it by fouling up today.

RE: What did you eat today?
Chicken breast strips, flash fried in oil to seal, then slow cooked for four hours in 50:50 low salt soy:water, spring onions, shiitake mushrooms and mange tout. Seasoned with black pepper and ginger.

More mushrooms and mange tout cooked in a open topped jar placed in cooker, more "al dente". Served with seperately cooked fine asparagus and cous cous with finely cut rings from onion leaves and basil added.

Next time, add strips of bell pepper (forgot to buy those), maybe shallots instead of spring onions...

RE: What did you eat today?
As usual ... nothing.

I'm up to approx three meals per week since my flat mates (and their various visitors) moved in.

Going to to try to get that back down to one ... without giving the impression that I don't appreciate their cooking... tricky. Blush

If anyone has any suggestions for polite excuses, I'd appreciate it. Cheers.

Tell them the brutal truth. Say that it isn't fit for swine.

Seriously though, here's one from Family Guy:

MAX: I'm grateful for the fish and marshmallow casserole Mrs. Griffin, but I just can't eat this.

LOIS: Oh, because it isn't kosher?

MAX: ...yeah, let's call it that.
