Leah-Lynn Plante Anarchist Grand Jury Resistor Imprisoned
A third self-described anarchist from the Pacific Northwest has been jailed by federal officials for refusing to speak before a secretive grand jury that the accused have called a politically-motivated modern-day witch-hunt.

Leah-Lynn Plante, a mid-20s activist from Seattle, Washington, was ushered out of court by authorities on Wednesday after refusing for a third time to answer questions forced on her by a grand jury — a panel of prosecutors convened to determine if an indictment can be issued for a federal crime.

Plante was one of a handful of people targeted in a series of raids administered by the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force on July 25 of this year which the feds say were in conjunction with an investigation into acts of vandalism that occurred during May Day protests in Seattle nearly two months prior. As part of their probe, search warrants were issued at multiple residences of activists in the area, including Plante’s, demanding that dwellers provide agents with “anti-government or anarchist literature” in their homes and any flags, flag-making material, cell phones, hard drives, address books, and black clothing.

The point is under what grounds was the arrest made?

I'm too emotionally close to comment with anything more rational than I have a strong dislike for Seattle Anarchists who try to take over every protest and demonstration and cause as much random vandalism as they can to incite the police to respond in riot gear and with violent tactics. Then they start new protests against the police and try to up the ante on the next police response.

It's as if they are trying to relive the 1999 WTO riots. SMH

RE: Leah-Lynn Plante Anarchist Grand Jury Resistor Imprisoned
She describes herself as having "mental health issues" including depression and PTSD for years from unrelated events. She was prepared even before the police came for her the very first time, she had already packed up her belongings and gotten them out of her home because she knew what was coming. She has chosen a lifestyle and behavior that makes her a target for this kind of legal action and she knew what it would be and how to prepare for it.

Now she uses inflammatory words and phrases like "we were held hostage in my backyard while police executed a warrant to ransack our home" when what she means is "Police legally searched my home while we were escorted outside and not allowed to reenter our home until they finished their search". That's just one example. Next she says "it's as if they had taken pointers from Orwell's 1984 as they took books, art, literature, and other personal belongings as evidence" when what she meant to say was "the legally executed warrant turned up anti-government anarchist books, handouts, pamphlets, and other suspicious personal belongings that the police confiscated and logged as evidence". Her entire speech is carefully researched, carefully worded, and very inflammatory.

She chose this, she prepared for it, and now she's preparing for the next step as she defies the government that gives here unprecedented and unequaled rights, including the right to defy the government up to a certain point (and even beyond, as long as she's willing to accept the consequences, which she obviously is). Not a wise course of action for someone who describes herself as having mental disorders.

I wonder how far her sweet little "I'm an innocent victim" routine would work if she lived in Afghanistan and was defying the Taliban right now. You think she would have gotten 3 subpoenas and would still be sitting around making videos for YouTube if she lived there?

I'm not buying her crap for one second. She made this bed and now she'll get to lie in it, and instead of being grateful that she lives in a corner of the world where this kind of crap is tolerated, to a point, and even beyond that point is dealt with fairly and with justice and due process, she would rather deliver a little "woe as me, I'm so picked on" speech to figuratively martyr herself for her cause - mainly because she knows that a minimum security white collar prison cell with free food and medical care and her own TV and XBox in her private cell is a small price to pay for "unwavering convictions that will not be shaken by their harassment."

I'm just glad it's not my tax dollars going to put this little princess up in her DOJ hotel suite.
