Links to sections
Does any one know how to post a link to a section of the forum where it is only the name that appears as the link?
e.g when you enter [url= http ://www example com/]Example com [url] (edited to show what i mean)
Example.com
Only the Example.com part will show up.

Ive tried this a few times and received the same result if i try to link to a specific forum section like The casual coffeehouse i end up on a page saying 404 Not Found.

Its not a problem it just looks better than posting http://thethinkingatheist.com/forum/Foru...offeehouse as a link.

RE: Links to sections
Pretty sure there is no way to do that. But I may be wrong.... Deepthought are you like superman where you can hear your name being mentioned? Anyone else wonder whatever else superman is listening to?

You got the url wrong. You need to copy and paste exactly as its presented so adding a slash at the end can screw it up!

The casual coffeehouse

Code:
[url=http://thethinkingatheist.com/forum/Forum-The-Casual-Coffeehouse]The casual coffeehouse[/url]
instead of
[url=http://thethinkingatheist.com/forum/Forum-The-Casual-Coffeehouse/]The casual coffeehouse[/url]

It's to do with Apache mod-rewrite.. It's not an actual directory on the server. It's emulating a directory structure and the string 'Forum-The-Casual-Coffeehouse' is given to /forum/index.php

Thats assuming anyone cares to know how it works under the hood. Tongue

RE: Links to sections
Ah so something of simple as a / can fuck it up. The / appears at the end of the address in my search bar, I'll need to remember to remove it next time.
the casual coffeehouse

It works, thanks oh deepest of thinkers. Big Grin

You are welcome to explain it if you want, but codings way above my head lol
