We're about 1/2 hour from this view of the Columbia Gorge.....

......about 45 minutes from Multnomah Falls ......

about 35 minutes from Portland....

And about an hour away from Mt Hood, here with the moon rising up over the tippy top....

There's not much else to say.

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

I hate my area it's full of incredibly ignorant people and makes me routinely crazy.

So yeah...I totally want to move. The big question is where in California do I want to live?

Moms, we live very near each other. I guess it kinda depends on several things. I don't have any family or inlaws living nearby so it makes my life much simpler. With no family around I'm completely free to pick and choose who my friends are. So my husband and I hang around with actors, writers and teachers who are pretty smart and interesting people.

RE: Location, location, location...
Here's why I like where I live:

We're having company shortly and I had to spend a lot of the day cleaning up the house. Not a lot of time for me. But, I did want to get some exercise in. Had time to just do 20 miles on the bike. In that 20 miles I went by the lake, some farms, did some good climbes in the hills, and back in time to mow the lawn and clean up the kitchen and bathroom. It's all right here. Next weekend I'll ride by the river and double the mileage.

It's nice here. Great place to raise kids and relax.

Shackle their minds when they're bent on the cross
When ignorance reigns, life is lost

Just curious.

I'm reasonably happy with where I live but I hate the winters (northern Alberta).
I plan to retire in California.

RE: Location, location, location...
I love my home city (Liverpool) but hate the place I am living in at the moment.
I got laid off from a job a couple of years back and had to downgrade to a one bedroom flat in the center of one of the nastiest areas in the city. It's a crumbling ruin of a neighbourhood and I'm 2 doors away from a hostel for drug addicts and alcoholics, who roam the streets all night causing mayhem. Luckily, they leave me alone as I am a big scary looking skinhead type (I'm a pussycat really Big Grin )

Sadly, due to the crap economy, I've been stuck with short term contracts for work , so can't commit financially to move somewhere nicer until I find a permanent job Sad

On the plus point, there's a really nice Victorian park a minutes walk away:

Maryland is also considered to be the birthplace of religious freedom in America, ... just saying.

I don't know how I'd like the winters in Maryland. The other months might be ok tho.

Kind of depends where in MD you are as to how bad the winters get.
