RE: Logan Clark Should Not Have Been Shot
A mistake???

are you fucking shitting me??????

2+2 = 5 is a mistake.

Running around threatening people with weapons is the definition of what a punk is.

Fuck him.

....
And if I were related to him????

I'd never admit it again......

Because you won't hold people to a standard of civility?????

....

That makes sense.

.....

Personally -- I don't care for punks who go about threatening people.

But, if you feel kindred to them, I suggest you have them move in with you..

That's not what I said, thanks for reacting instead of thinking. You're proving my point.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

RE: Logan Clark Should Not Have Been Shot
My (albeit limited) understanding is that the officer in question worked at the school.

This is not the same as police being called to the scene.

police officers who do work at schools should have sufficient training. The kid could have been subdued without a gun.

Why?! Because I've seen it happen many times before the days when every kid had a camera on their phone -- and police pulling guns on kids were relatively rare.

This isn't a case of second guessing, it's a case where the idea "there's someone doing something we must shoot him" mentality needs to stop.

It is.

Some people have issues with empathy tho. *shrug*

RE: Logan Clark Should Not Have Been Shot
I'm listening to other points of view and trying to understand them but to be honest I'm quite shocked and still not convinced he couldn't have been effectively tasered, looking at the video and pictures he's rather a scrawny little fellow 50,000 volts should have been ample to bring his mini rampage to a sharp conclusion. I do however agree that the cop was in a difficult situation and did what he thought was best.

Quote:still not convinced he couldn't have been effectively tasered,

Would you bet the lives of yourself and the innocent people around him?

Quote:he's rather a scrawny little fellow

It's not the size of the boy with the knives it's the size of the knives with the boy. I wouldn't want him stabbing me.

The last remaining question is was it overly dangerous to discharge the weapon. The proof is in the pudding that the cop made the right decision.

See that, Elk?

We don't fully agree...nor must we... but people considered one another's positions and softened or modified their stances. That's what rational discussion does.

And then there's OLB, of course, who appears constitutionally incapable of empathizing with anyone not in his own shoes. But that's pretty much a given on this forum in half the threads.

I'll just have to passive-aggressively hope-out-loud that he never has a chemical imbalance in his brain, or his child's brain, that makes him do something that a person of right mind would never do... and that the officer chooses to TASER him rather than shoot him, when that occurs.
