Matthew 23New International Version (NIV)

A Warning Against Hypocrisy

23

23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

Loving, caring, helping people is far more beautiful without a god, than with one. You're freely choosing to give your emotions and compassion and love to others. No one is threatening or forcing or rewarding you for it. You do it because to you it has value and meaning in its own right.

To me there is nothing in the universe more beautiful and amazing as this.

Thank you Gwaithmir

The more important matters like respecting the autonomy and freedom of others to think for themselves? To be free from harassment? To be free from threats of violence and murder?

Answer me this, if I tell you I don't want you to try and convert me to your religion would you respect that? Or would you lie, say yes, then continue to beat me over the head with a bible, with your baseless claims at supernatural healing, with your digs that my life would be so much better if I just would let you brainwash me.

I mean you can quote that all you want, but do you even know what the more meaningful things are in life?

Love? Like the love that harms people for all eternity for thinking for oneself? The kind of love that comes from the threat of hell? Tell me, how could anyone really love any god if the option of saying no to that is hell? I propose god isn't interested in love, if he were it would be free without threats, without punishments, without consequences. Only a love freely given has meaning. Since hell is on the table if a the Christians god is real (the one threatening hell in this case), it show's he couldn't give a fuck about love. He wants slaves. As a free individual I reject this. Any such god deserves no one's love, nor their loyalty, nor dose he deserve to enslave a free people.

I do sense some hypocrisy here, but I don't think you see it in yourself for what it is.

> A warning against the hypocrites who believe in the wrong book and fail to worship the supreme God:

"And they shall stand in despair before the white cliffs of the world, and shall chant from their empty tomes in vain, for their words are nothing! And Erú shall prevail against His enemies and they shall be cast into the Void, for their enchantments are naught and their gods are helpless before Him." (The Silmarillion, 17:82)

You keep telling us to read Bible verses as if the Bible were some kind of authority, all the while ignoring my OP. Read the Bible, read the Bible, do what it says. Why should we when it has been shown to be contrary to reason. You people are really good at compartmentalization, I'll tell you.
