Look at what I did today.

8-8 foot 2x4s
4-8 foot 1x4s
2 sheets of birch paneling
Lots of screws and finishing nails

It's a monster stand. I'm going to be loading 500+ lbs on it so it had to be stout. Tomorrow I paint it black and start the tank nitrogen cycle. In a week or two I should be able to put my oranda and black moor in it. They are currently in a 10 gallon so I'm sure they will love the new one.

Looks good. Paint or stain?

Paint for now. An almost black dark grey in satin finish. I intend to put some cabinet doors on it at some point and I may replace the birch panels with oak and use a black stain on it.

Looks damn solid and very well crafted. Thumbsup

So, since it's a bigger tank, will you be adding, or will this only be an upgrade for your current fish?

I could put up to 5 fancy goldfish in it because of it's size. I don't have that planned for now. So the two I have will have it all to themselves for the time being. I was considering a calico to add to the color combo.

Painted black.

I'm really happy with how well it turned out. I actually painted the top trim piece aqua just because I had an old spray can of it. I didn't like it though so I painted it black. It's still wet but soon I'll be putting the tank back on top and filling it up.

Hmm, Consider he does look kind of grumpy but the coloring is wonderful.
Since they are both a variety of carp, will this calico be able to get it on with your black moor? Or can they even do that?

Sorry, I really haven't watched enough fish porn to be sufficiently informed of their ins and outs. Wink
