Love Thread
Is there any scientific theory or evidence regarding what invokes feelings of love in a person, its causes and is evolutionary use?

Yes.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

RE: Love Thread
A pretty simple answer, maybe not as simple as "yes," is that love aids in bonding between people. It's been found in mammals because many of these species have to take care of their young or pack to survive. Love is evolutions bonding of groups in order to help benefit their chances of surviving and reproducing very efficiently.

RE: Love Thread
Love is a secondary emotion to the base emotion of empathy (to understand/care for another). Empathy for one another helps to increase the chance of survival as a whole species. It starts out where a creature realizes that if its partner is getting hurt it won't have someone to help get food/shelter, so it develops concerns for that other individual's well-being. This evolved into love.

Another base emotion is fear and loneliness can be a derivative of this emotion. Love can help soothe these feelings and benefit in that way too.

RE: Love Thread
Love = a chemical bond that forces you to stay with and look after someone that you've imprinted on.

Whether a spouse or family member. Which means people who are more loving are better able to help their spouses and family survive (just by virtue of sticking around) - which means they have a greater chance of passing on their genes. The chemical quarks that produced love can be passed on as well, and strengthened.

Oxytocin.

Breathing - it's more art than science.
