Long Before Helping Flint, Michigan Officials Were Shipping Clean Water to Their Own Workers
According to newly released emails.

—By Julia Lurie| Thu Jan. 28, 2016 5:35 PM EST

"According to newly discovered emails, Michigan officials were trucking clean water to a state building in Flint in January 2015, long before they acknowledged to residents that the city had a contamination problem.

One of the emails, which were obtained by the group Progress Michigan, was sent from the state Department of Technology, Management, and Budget. It reads, "While the City of Flint states that corrective actions are not necessary, DTMB is in the process of providing a water cooler on each occupied floor, positioned near the water fountain, so you can choose which water to drink. The coolers will arrive today and will be provided as long as the public water does not meet treatment requirements.""

So I guess that means they're smarter than the people in Flint.

.........

I've no sympathy for those folks in Flint.

Would YOU drink out of lead pipes - REGARDLESS of the water source??

I wouldn't.

I'd replace the damned things.

They didn't choose to. They didn't want to spend the money.

............

Now they want US to pay for their years of getting by on substandard plumbing...

Screw 'em.

And all of the children who were not responsible for such decisions? Must they too be thrown under the bus, their health forfeited, over the mistakes of their parents?

It's not a mistake.

It's willful neglect.

I suppose we could take their kids away from the parents for child endangerment --- seeing Michigan leads the nation in that.........

I just don't see how you fix a problem caused by neglect (willful or otherwise) by neglecting it.

Flint was one of the richest cities in the state for many years -- from about WWII till the early 1970's.

During this time - they spent an absolute minimum on infrastructure...

The MAJORITY of the lead pipes in question are the runs from water mains at the street to residences -- which by law - the homeowner is responsible for.

They chose to drink out of lead pipes,

So who pays for it??????
Not the people of Flint -- they think everyone else in the state owes them......

The funny part??? They bitch about how the Flint river water fucks them up -- and they're back on DETROIT'S water system -- which is farther downstream!! When you want cleaner water - you don't go further downstream where it's more polluted...............

Great. What about those kids? It's still not their fault.

It's obviously their fault that they were not proactive enough to fix this problem 30 years before they were born.

Uh, no?

There is a problem. In response to this problem, you advocated "Screw 'em". I pointed out how callous that was, especially as it lumped in people who had no fucking way to be at all accountable for the current situation; you know, like children.

So how about those children, do you still advocate screwing them too? Is neglecting the situation still your preferred solution to the problem? Or do you have a better solution that doesn't throw them under the bus while also making assumptions about other people's opinions? Consider
