No fucking shit. If Trump claimed Obama sank the Titanic even though he wasn't alive his voters would buy it.

Our right wing in America is really only different than conservative Islam in the context we are hanging on by a thread with a Constitution while still in tact is getting increasingly pissed on by our right wing theocrats.

RWNJ Christians, "Look at what they do to minorities"

Sane, "Yea we agree, so why the fuck are you trying to replicate that here?"

RWNJ Christians, "No we are not! When we set up social pecking orders based on religion it is because we picked the correct holy book"

Sane, "So what you are really arguing isn't freedom of religion, but freedom for your religion to seat everyone else behind you?"

Funny how their Conservative Muslims hate outsiders and protect their club and love weapons as much as our far right.

The founders would be pissed at today's republicans.

Only 2 problems, A. not every conservative is a christian in the U.S B. The founders wouldn't like either party

The only other French Presidential election I know of where there was above a 60% margin like this was when Jacques Chirac slaughtered LePen's father 82:18.

It's usually a close race when only two candidates are left. Not only in France. The rather disturbing fact is that 35 percent still voted for a candidate that makes no secret about being far right. She tried to distance herself from he antisemitic father, but that still doesn't change the fact it's still the same party.

That may be down to a rather low turnout and the fact that radicals are usually more eager to vote for their candidate than moderates. Even more so, if the moderate is considered to be the lesser evil and not a really desirable choice.

America, after the latest disaster, should know the works.

Really I imagine she's every bit as anti-Semitic as her dad was, plus, as you said, the party is as well. She reminds me a great deal in her speeches, of the Ku Klux Klan here in America. "We're not against [insert minority group here], we're just pro-white culture!" And yeah, we've definitely had a good reminder of this recently (moreso than our usual locked into a 'lesser of two evils' choice).

Need to think of a witty signature.

No nothing is either or, but depends on topic. Even with the founders.

Some were economic right and some were religious right, but even then, knowing what I know about what they set up, I cannot see the vast majority of them supporting today's republicans.

I know Jefferson hated big banks because he got fucked over by them. Washington didn't like the idea of political parties, but he is not the totality of all the singers. Jefferson and Paine out of all of them were certainly the most influential on the issue of railing against the idea of pulpit legislation. Adams leaned religiously to the right, but in the end they all signed a constitution that left the words "God, Bible, Jesus and Christianity" out of it, and included "no religious test" in the oath of office.

They like any politician were dealing with the climate of their time. Some on the libertarian side and certainly on the GOP side argue that the founders were all about property rights and had the mindset that only property owners should set the rules. Problem is the Whiskey Rebellion. If it were the libertarian attitude some claim, then why would the troops be sent to make the citizens of the newly found country pay taxes?

When you read the First Amendment, it does not read like it gives one class, or one political party, or one religion a monopoly. It reads like an anti trust law.

They're all that way. All over Europe. Their ticket is hatred against minorities and to present themselves as fighters against the political and social establishment. That's also the ticket Trump won on, by the way.

It's pretty much the same fertile soil as it was in the 30ies. A major economical crash that left quite a lot of people worse off than they were before. Before 2008, they were at the fringe of the political spectrum, now they blossom all over.

If Le Pen is as antisemitic as her father is entirely secondary. That's not the minority to serve as scapegoats this time round. Peculiar alliances are formed. All these rightwingers are buddy buddy with Netanjahu in Israel. Not because they love Israel or jews so much, but because they found brethred in hatred. Also this friendship serves as a splendid cover to disguise their real nature.

They also embark on regular pilgrimages to Moscow. With the exemption of Wilders in the Netherlands. There are well founded rumors that the far right is indeed financed by Russia. Nothing proven as of yet, but there's certainly a lot of love between them. Whenever Putin or some dubious figure from his entourage stages a far right congress, they are there. Some have even officially announced to colaborate with Putin's party.

There's as much Russian interest in destabilizing Europe as there is in the case of the USA, so that should surprise noone. Putin would love to see the EU to break apart and to have a number of friendly governments in place. It's already happening with Hungary, where the borderline dictator Orban is Putin's new best friend. Same with Turkey. Erdogan is always welcome in Moscow.

Ya vet immigrants better and permanently arrest(or deport in certain cases) terrorist.

How in the world is that going to stop Islam from growing? You realize that Muslims live the world over and -- yikes! -- reproduce!

Some sloppy thinking you've got going on here, Zeke, even by your own standards.

By the way, the mistake you're making is two-fold -- non sequitur, and overbroad generalization. Just in case you were curious.
