I absolutely aggree about it being difficult to laugh about yourself. But that is something we should learn. To tell yourself "take it easy, relax" seriously and not with the sarcastic tone that makes it seem like such a negative thing.
Think things through, get peaceful with yourself and have a goooood laugh about yourself Smile
People take themselfes too serious much of the time Wink

Leela, I have to ask... and please be honest... if my post was this:

Mine is Christian:

I used to think I was smarter than everyone.
I used to think everyone who was an atheist was below me.
I used to think that God was in control of everything.
I used to believe that there wasn't a rational explanation for everything.
I used to think all atheists were nuts.
I used to have a giant chip on my shoulders towards non-Christians.
I used to annoyingly challenge everyone who wasn't a Christian in debate just to berate their beliefs.

Would you have reacted differently?

It's still not humorous enough. You should add a funny picture to go with it. Drinking Beverage

I'd think you were an asshole either way. Not all atheists or christians behave that way. That was probably just you.

Most young people behave that way at one time or another. It's not anyone's fault that you confused it, or blamed it on something outside yourself. You didn't know any better - you were steeped in faith - it's all you knew.

You never had atheist views... you just think you were an atheist... like Egor. You just didn't have the tools or security to take responsibility for your own thoughts and actions. That is what made your epiphany that much more of an experience for you.

Not to worry; happens to people all the time. Shy

I think in the end, I just feel like I'm a secular person who has a skeptical eye toward any extraordinary claim, carefully examining any extraordinary evidence before jumping to conclusions. ~ Eric ~ My friend ... who figured it out.

You are not very respectful. You should address him as "Your Assholiness". Bowing

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

It's a movie.

I remember it because one of the characters said exactly what Chas just said. I just thought the line was funny.

It's impossible to convince anyone of any personal experiences or beliefs. I didn't believe in a Christian God... based on my personal experience... in fact, the thought of a Christian God was abhorrent to me.
