Sure, mother nature has made it just so, that my uncut penis hurts all the time, if i have a good wank! WTF.
And sure, you can have an infection in case of a phimosis. And then you need medication and clean water, but you dont need a knife.
Where do you come from, Simbabwe?

RE: Male Circumcision for Atheists?
There are no medical reasons for prophylactic circumcision. There are, however, a couple of emergent medical conditions that need to be treated with circumcision. Barring these medical conditions, the decision for circumcision should be up to the individual...not the parents & not the Church.

No, Massachusetts. Infant circumcision is popular in the USA.

Slavery was also a very popular thing in the USA, so what?

RE: Male Circumcision for Atheists?
I'm circumcised like most American males born in my generation. I honestly don't sit around crying for the missing piece of my anatomy. It is what it is, and there is nothing I can do about it. No point in hating myself for something I had no control over. That being said, I would never circumcise my child.

Why do you assume I am defending circumcision? Most people outside of the USA don't know most American boys are circumcised.
In fact, I myself didn't know I was circumcised until I was 18 years old. I never questioned what a natural penis is suppose to look like.
So what? So, I stated it as a fact so that person would know, I'm not from Zimbabwe, because you apparently assumed circumcision was only ritualistic and not medical, which it is, though declining, in the USA. So, I, knowing this to be not common knowledge of the American Penis, told you that, because, you, asked.
Got that?
You see, I'm sure you would have figured that yourself if you just gave it second thought. But, no, you had to figure I was some whatever the heck you figured.
Glad to have cleared that up. It'd appear you have failed to be a smart alec.

2. Individual is expected to have very poor hygiene skills (dirty, infection).
3. Cancerous growths.

Illegitimate reasons for infant circumcision:
1. Ritualistic body mutilation.

How much clearer can it be?

As for adult circumcision:
1. Cosmetic reasons.
2. Real/imagined sexual performance enhancer.

In this case, WAIT until the infant is an adult in order for them to make the decision.

Infant circumcision is also an issue of cosmetics as well..but by the parents desire of cosmetics. I had a conversation on the idea of a possible son in the future with an Ex GF one time, us being American, she mentioned to her an uncircumcised penis looks weird and all... at a later day when she was older she seemed to understand the difference when another friend of hers talked about how he was made he got circumcised. (BTW, I'm American and was circumcised as an infant)

I say that anecdote because I know there was an episode of the show Penn & Teller's: Bullshit! that talked all about circumcision; within this episode, there was a couple with an infant son who debated over the idea of circumcision. The father wasn't ever circumcised but said throughout his life, In America, he would realize like in gym showers or even with women to hide the fact he wasn't circumcised because he would be ridiculed that he looked silly. For that reason he wanted his son circumcised so he wouldn't have to go through a similar treatment.

I don't get the premise of making a distinction of Atheists... Christians in America get their children circumcised because the medical field promotes that it's safer to prevent possible infections.. yet it's such a minimal difference and easily solved by the slightest care to hygiene, or so I'm told. They don't give two hoots or even know it is in The Bibble in the majority of the country.

And to adult or older circumcision.. I can't imagine why anyone would agree to that willingly. I had a Turkish friend who told us he was circumcised at the age of 9; that is one horrific experience I don't wish on any man.

You kidding me, right?
You want me to belief, you never have seen an uncut penis unti you are 18 years old?
Ok, lets take that out off sight.
You know, we here in germany have internet, too.
And sometimes, but only sometimes i did'nt watch porn, instade i try to educate myself a bit and read about foreign countrys and stuff like that.
And my question about your origin was a rhetorical one, because i can read and i am able to handle a website. I checkt your memberprofile befor i ask.
So, you came from the east-coast.
I know, your homecountry is a little bigger then mine, and i think he is not even your neighbor, but one of my favorit authors, Stephen King comes from there.
I readed nearly every book that he has published since "Carrie".
If he discribed his scenarios as precise as he tells his storys, i have a pretty good impression about your place.
I am also well aware about the practice of circumcision in your country.
BTW, the numbers are falling since a few years.
But your statement about the uncut penis was so out of range, so i have to respond.
And i want to make that straight, circumcision is not a usefull medical procedure anymore.
The systematical Circumcision on infants is a crime againt humanity.
The religios induced Circumcision on infants is even worst.
You may read this to understand why i am deeply offendet by this.
And you may read my first post on this topic.

RE: Male Circumcision for Atheists?
I don't really know all that much about circumcision, be it certainly seems popular with some groups.

Then again I live by an "Efficiency over looks" kind of attitude, point being I am not aware of any functional differences... Well at least I know I don't need any kind of oils or lubricants for some of my typical teenage habits. NOT that we need to get into that, ever, so I'm just going to leave it there and pose the question:

Are there any functional advantages to circumcision?

The people closely associated with the namesake of female canines are suffering from a nondescript form of lunacy.
