Mary Breastfeeding Jesus: Xmas's Missing Icon
Here's a Christmas-related story that might be of interest, tying together as it does disparate themes from different parts of the forum.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/11...74119.html

Excerpt:

Quote:[In] the earliest days of Christianity . . . "the virgin's nursing breast, the lactating virgin, was the primary symbol of God's love for humanity" . . .

By the Middle Ages, the breast-feeding Mary was shown in every possible context, and "lactation miracles" and "milk shrines" proliferated across the Christian world. Mary was "the wet-nurse of salvation," as one phrase had it, offering holy succor to communities exposed to the vagaries of war and disease. Some images of St. Bernard of Clairvaux even show him kneeling in prayer before a statue of Mary, who is squirting breast milk onto his eager lips.

It was all deeply moving to believers of the day, though perhaps too much of a good thing even then. Miesel says that a century before the Reformation, St. Bernardine of Siena quipped that "Mary must have given more milk than a hundred cows."

Who knew.

The full article, by the way, is complete with illustrations.

Quite interesting. Some of the paintings are a bit disturbing, though. esp. the second one (by van Cleve, esp. in combination with Jesus' evil little smile Laugh out load ) The squirting bit was also a bit much. But believers and saints have done even weirder stuff...

I have to admit, I'd fuck Mary.
I wonder if Jesus gave her an orgasm when he was born. Consider

That one's really going to push their buttons!

1) It features breasts which freaks out conservatives and Christians.

2) It has Jesus enjoying a breast in his mouth which a) is offensive because it strangely hints at sexuality though it's just a depiction of an infant mammal nursing on its mother, same as any other mammal does and b) it hints at Jesus being sexual which seems to violate His perfection in some way.

Heck, Jesus even looks like he enjoys it!

No no no. Have you never been to the shrines in of Mary in Europe ? The representation of the dissemination of information of the causation of Marian lactation, after gestation, (as Jeebus needed hydration and a libation), before he did the causation of salvation, fulfilling his vocation and creation, before the Marain breast deflation, and indeed mutation, (from vibration, sedation and prostration), in her station and her nation, caused a donation of a magic crustation, which of course also caused flirtation with damnation and gyration of the Horation aberration, yet affirmation and agitation, even while appellation and celebration and consecration, causing further constipation and deprivation and lack of elongation for Joseph, and thus exploitation of illustration, which did cause inflammation and thus indignation by Mary, and secret jubilation and even levitation, as it freed her from medication for menstruation. This is known as the Doctrine of Viagra Falsification, or the Abomination of Desolation from lactation.

Hey! It took me about half your post to realise you were doing it on purpose. I was beginning to get mighty annoyed, too. Laughat
