True. In fact Clinton got 2.9 million more primary votes than Drumpf. The sole reason Drumpf "won" was because of the laughably outdated Electoral College system. Which needs to be got rid of ASAP, but which Drumpf won't touch of course as the pretender to the throne that benefitted from it.

Do you know how hard it is to change the constitution? How could Trump "touch" it? He couldn't change it even if he wanted to. Only congress or the state legislatures can change the constitution.

The electoral college is genius by the way. It prevents one state with a huge population from controlling the rest of the states. It also affords the opportunity for the president to match the party of the majority of congress. If we went by popular vote, it would be possible for the president to always be the opposite party of those in power in congress. The electoral college gives a voice to each state.

Additionally, and people keep ignoring this, but California is our most populous state. And purposely, California switched to a "top two" primary system. This prevents republican senators from making the general election ballot. So republicans in California had no reason to go to the voting booth on November 8th. This inflates the demorat lead in the presidential election. Another reason why the electoral college makes sense.

No, it doesn't. Electoral votes are proportional to population.

Not exactly.

"The average electoral vote represents 436,000 people, but that number rises and falls per state depending on that state’s population over 18 years of age. (The map above shows the population 18 years and older per electoral vote by state.) The states with the fewest people per electoral vote, and therefore the highest “vote power,” are Wyoming, Vermont, and North Dakota. In Wyoming, there are 143,000 people for each of its three electoral votes. The states with the weakest votes are New York, Florida, and California. These states each have around 500,000 people for each electoral vote.

In other words, one Wyoming voter has roughly the same vote power as four New York voters.”

It's supposed to be more precisely proportional. The number of electors is tied to census data but the proportions are skewed because it is indirect.
The number of electors is equal to the number of Representatives + Senators which skews the proportion more for states with fewer representatives.
However, it is still the case that it is proportional to population; it's just not quite linear.

It came about as a compromise between election by direct vote and selection by the legislatures.

Nope. Some of that will happen. But he has pissed off far to much of the minority and female vote he is still playing the old school white tea party base, and that isn't going to cut it.

This will be a Mondale or Dukakis. Some of that lead may shrink during the general, but this wont be anywhere close to Romney or Gore and Bush.

That is why the rest of the GOP is scared shitless of Mein Drumpf getting the nomination.

Lol
