Melons....
.....ya, I figured that got your attention.

Not what you are hoping for, but you might find it interesting anyways.

I'm actually curious about this.

Ah, cost, the ever present party pooper.

This experiment really is to see if it's possible to grow at, or at least not too far above, grocery store prices. This first run will most definitely be more costly than even the most expensive "organic" fruit in the store. But with a few grows, I'm pretty confident that this system can yield impressively. My intent is to eventually grow a variety of fruits and veggies all in a single system (obviously that would limit varieties, but we're going for as simple as possible), not unlike a small backyard garden in the summertime.

Obviously, the best way to maximize a grow like this is to also use any available sunlight. In the future, we hope to do exactly that, by moving this setup to the main floor, and utilizing our south facing windows. By supplementing with HID lights in the winter we hope to create an edible atrium right in our home.

So many cats, so few good recipes.

Now, THAT has been a dream of mine for a long time... a court yard type thing in the middle of the house with a greenhouse material roof that can be moved away to let the sun in directly in summer, and put in place in winter...

The stuff dreams are made of! Smile

That setup just doesn't cut it for MJ. Requires too much root pruning, and that leads to root rot. For MJ I'd recommend at least doubling the diameter of the grow chamber.
