Memorial Day Weekend
I just wanted to share a picture if my Great Grandpa and I figured it'd be nice to have a thread where we could remember our loved ones this Memorial Day
Feel free to share yours Smile Heart

My great grandpa was a great man. He passed away when I was 11.

Swing with me a while, we can listen to the birds call, we can keep each other warm.
Swing with me forever, we can count up every flower, we can weather every storm.

RE: Memorial Day Weekend
I remember my grandfather well although he died when I was 7.

He was a WWII veteran. He was captured by the Japanese and sent to a prison camp several month before the end of the war with Japan. He was tortured at the camp and as a result began to suffer minor strokes for many years. He eventually became bed ridden and then died.

He sure loved his grandchildren. I never heard him talk about the war.

My husband of 33 years is a Vietnam war veteran (we are now divorced). We were lucky as he received his orders to depart for Vietnam in 1972, near the close of the war.

We watched our friends depart for Nam. And, we watched them come back wounded--all wounded in the psyche, some with physical wounds, all on drugs.

I use Memorial day to remember their stories, and I reach for a book called The Things They Carried

Too many to remember. And for what?

We could and should do better.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

My grandfather got kicked out of high school because he threw a Bible at his religion teacher's head. Laugh out load

Finally! A good use for the Bible.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.
