RE: Men not wanting to get married.
Where is the source for people saying this Is some problem or frequently worried about concept?

All I've ever heard in similar reference to it is the Japanese population standing where birth rate is low due to the culture , tech, and social attitudes leading to forgo relationships less than even getting to marriage

I don't see the point in marriage.

Ultimately, its a very expensive piece of paper, and a day out.

RE: Men not wanting to get married.
I'm against marriage for exactly the same reason I'm against slavery.

.......

Proponents of marriage will say marriage is "rooted in the love between a man and a woman" (or two people for the LGBT community) --- but ---

Ultimately that's a total whitewash of history.

Marriage, is about property.

That is -- a marriage certificate was was a "traditional" man used to prove a woman was his property. End of story.

Women had virtually no rights - and were granted just about the same liberties as a man's dog, or possibly a horse.

In fact -- in the US -- there was a period where a slave counted as more, than a wife --- in that a slave was worth 2/3 of a vote -- where women were totally out of the voting process.

...

All the "it's about love" stuff is strictly a recent invention.

I prefer not having any governmental interference with how I relate to anyone. Doubly so, for how I relate to the woman I live with.

It's not their business.

.......................................

The difference between prayer and masturbation - is when a guy is through masturbating - he has something to show for his efforts.

RE: Men not wanting to get married.
Here's an article from 2012 (written by a trained psychologist as far as I could check) I've found on the subject. Strictly speaking it's about MGTOW but I think the root of the issue is similar - due to societal double-binds it's nearly impossible to find emotional and sexual satisfaction at the same time.

RE: Men not wanting to get married.
In real life, there are some nasty laws that will affect you if you are not married. Like one of you needs to go to the hospital - the other will not be permitted to be with you. You have no advocate in the hospital. You die alone. Inheritance laws are all in favor of spouses first and children second. Nothing about significant others - be prepared to pay out your ass for taxes if you manage to wrestle the inheritance away from blood relatives filing complaints.

Also in real life now, marriage is a contract and it can contain anything two people agree to. Called a pre-nuptial.

Besides, no one can force anyone into marriage these days. It's all up to two people only. Even when there is a child. YOUR child. A human being who could grow into a well balanced person or be damaged for life, depending on what YOU do.

Marriage is when you make it and what you make it. If you marry someone who will imprison you, it's your own fault. If you have a marriage that's not a partnership, it's your fault.

If you fail to take the current legal system into account when making decisions, it's also your fault.

First one needs to deal with reality, then we can apply our ideals. Unless, of course, you want to change reality, so you want to be an activist and change the laws.

Well that is if you assume that people won't change during marriage

True, if they promise one thing and deliver another... that's not your fault.

RE: Men not wanting to get married.
The wife and I have been married almost 40 years. If I understand all the folks here who have never been and likely never will be married, she and I are doing it wrong.

Wouldn't a will pretty much cover that? As long as dependent children are accounted for.

It appears that no one told these women that.

I don't think I would say that the isolated and brain-washed women of the FLDS are at fault.
