Millenials leading Exodus away from religion
"According to Pew, the move from Christian to unaffiliated is being led by millennials. Young people’s cynicism toward organized religion is hardly a shock. They’ve watched hypocrisy after hypocrisy and seen scandal after scandal, whether it involved money, child abuse, or both. But millennials aren’t leaving religion entirely; many of them appear to be seeking it on their own terms.”

Clap

First you drop the organized part then the woo part goes as well.

RE: Millenials leading Exodus away from religion
Does that mean we have to wait 40 more years while millions of millenials wander around in the desert leaving no trace?
Consider

I'd bet that many of the "no affiliation" are just unwilling to publicly commit to being nonbelievers. If the demographics keep tilting this way it we may see a very rapid shift. At least I hope so.

I'm still slightly weary as at this stage of, whatever the hell the date distinction is... there were likely many who were feeling that Gen Xers were not religious and didn't seem to fit into a category of those types to their views. But over the time shifts and in scenarios like having families in their 30s to 40s, many began embracing that religion of their childhood.

I would like to think that is significantly going to change for a majority or large percent of younger non-religious folks now.

Jeez I hope not.

It doesn't happen overnight - the young generation that makes the noise has to raise up it's kids first, before the impact becomes clear. Just look at the gay movement, gender equality movement and marijuana movement. Takes a couple generations to make a good dent.

The problem as I see it is this; in the west people are getting over Xianity while at the same time Islam is growing in strength day by day. Or so it seems. Especially in Europe.

So who do we think will win, rationalists or Islamists???

NOTE: Member, Tomasia uses this site to slander other individuals. He then later proclaims it a joke, but not in public.
I will call him a liar and a dog here and now.

Going on current trends, Islam will be the majority religion by 2050 or so.

Secularism is also rising in Europe as well. It's just not being as low as it was in the US. But Christianity is losing out as well a lot to secularism and there just is more birthrates and immigration of Muslim families in more areas there.

I think an eventual collision of islam and secular/christian cultures is inevitable unless islamic cultures clean up the extremists.

If it comes to a real confrontation, it will be very messy.
