More wordy stuff: athis and abthat...
OK, "atheist" means "without god(s)", "abnormal" means "not normal" etc.

So let's re-define a few words. Stretching things a little where necessary, "sounds like..."

Abacus - 1. Without baccy, 2. Not a swear word, 3. Without a wine god.

Aflame - without a light for your smoke.

Atone - without a musical note.

Atom - without a male cat.

Abhor- not a prostitute.

Absolved - of a problem; not solved.

Absolution - not a solution.

Later: don't know if you can access BBC radio stuff, podcasts etc, online outside the UK but, if you can, look up "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" described as "the antidote to panel games". Absolutely silly and just about the funniest thing on radio for word-wanglers (not a mis-type, a neologism Big Grin).

THEY ARE AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE, YAY! Clap

I think abhor would mean "without a prostitute".

Absolute = In need of something to put in your solvent.

Abase = Military personnel with nowhere to keep their equipment.

Abound = Feet firmly planted on the ground.

Abetter = One very bored Blackjack dealer.

Abridge = Gotta ford that river. (Or, alternately ab-ridge would mean flat land.)

Abstain = I have a good dry-cleaner.

This is fun. Smile

"Stealing a "root" is allowed if not noticed by original poster.

Nope, then abnormal would have to mean "without normal", "without a prostitute would surely be "ahor", nearest I can find to that is the town of Ahorey in N. Ireland!

Abstained - not at all dirty.

Abate - not yet eaten

Able - not a French conjunction

Oh my word! What a thought?!?!?

This means that my life in Singapore was 'abhorrent' in both senses (traditional and Gloucestertorial) of the word.

:mind blown:
