Although I also knew a relationship would end in a disaster, I went a step too far and told her what I felt for her anyway - and luckily, in retrospective, she didn't feel the same at the time (which changed when i started to distance myself; one of her "bad choices" was still around)
Well some time later I ended everything for the same reasons you did, but seeing her or reading her texts still does the same to me... it's 3-4 months now and the "drug" loses its temptation way too slow.

She still tries to contact me now and then... but I guess time will do the trick for me, because her refusal at the time gave me some closure

To OP:

I had my share of girl-addictions... My only solution is to cut all ties to that person, or else I am being dragged along with all her problems. To cut the ties means I delete email, phone number and all messages. If I don't do that, first time I get depressed, I call that girl and everything starts again. This way I wait for a month or so and the "problems" begin to disappear.

The only other option is to call her out on a date, pull her close, hold her tight and never let go.

So, I guess it is up to you to decide which one of these 2 actions will you take, but this middle you are into now is the worst position you can be. It also does not help her, because she can now do whatever she likes and you are always there to put out the fire. NO. Do not let her use you in this way, she fucks around with some assholes, while you think about her and how to help her? No, you either take her in, or forget about her. She also needs to decide the exact same thing.

I see you are afraid of taking her in, she might "destroy" you and all that. True, but not necessary. One of the reasons for her behavior could be asshole boyfriends, so if you were to take that possition, maybe she would accept some of your ideas and actions, meaning everything might change for the better.

I did exactly that, deleting all messages and contacts, but what does it help if she's the one coming back? You can't exactly force her to delete everything.

But I disagree with her changing ways just because you become her boyfriend. She's the one actively choosing them. And while Misa was also able to change some things, that part didn't change at all.

Now speaking from my experience: While you really can change ones attitude towards some things (as he did after her suicide attempt), with people you want to help (and who obviously need help) you will always remain an extinguisher and they are the eternal flame you can't put out yourself. You can only ever put out enough to stop them (their mess/problems) from turning into a whole house fire.
All the positive actions you can provide will only bring you so far and the rest is up to the person itself.

Ah yes, if she is the one coming back, then there is a problem of not being able to not see/hear from her. I have a solution for that as well, either then take her up on her offer and become her boyfriend, or tell her to go ask her boyfriend to help her out. I hate when someone has a boyfriend, but I have to be the one who deals with problems, HELLO! That is why you have a boyfriend, go, talk to him, let hIM pay for your bills, let him take care of your depression, or tell him to fuck off and then we can talk.

This is a clear case where one person is leeching positive energy from a "friend". Misanthropic IS a friend to her, but she is NOT a friend to him, she is a leech. She will drain you if you do not either run away, or make sweet love to her.

In case you make sweet love to her, be very careful, she might burn you like a super-nova, if she decides that you are not for her and then stupid boyfriends start to come back...
